Logo Design • Brand Identity • Art Direction • Book Design • Layout • Illustration
Offline Books is the first publishing imprint built exclusively for online creators. Books designed to be natural extensions of the creators' content, voice, and community. I developed the brand identity for the imprint, then art directed designed, and laid out the first two books in the series: one a playful, illustration-driven activity book; the other a minimal, photography-led title. Two completely different visual worlds under one imprint flexible enough to hold both.
The Offline Books identity was designed to adapt, with mark, horizontal, vertical, and pattern variations that flex across spines, covers, and digital contexts without losing coherence. The bold, contemporary color system signals originality and energy while leaving room for each book's individual visual world to lead.
224 pages of projects and ideas by YouTube creator Half-Asleep Chris. The cover required balancing the creator's loose, illustrative voice with the Offline Books brand and DK's production standards while earning attention in a crowded market. Inside, the layout system had to flex across wildly different project types while feeling cohesive from cover to cover.
Each spread in The Unordinary Book of Ideas required a different design solution balancing structured project information with the creator's loose, playful illustration style. The challenge was building a layout system flexible enough to accommodate wildly different content from spread to spread, while keeping the book feeling cohesive from cover to cover.
The second Offline Books title: a nature book about small creatures and the biomes they call home, by creator Ben Newell. Where Unordinary is playful and illustration-driven, Tiny is minimal and photography-led. The design challenge was building a completely different visual system within the same brand framework proving the Offline Books identity flexible enough to hold two distinct creative voices.
Offline Books launched as DK Publishing's first creator-focused imprint, with The Unordinary Book of Ideas in print and available internationally. The brand identity, designed to scale across a growing series, gives each book a shared visual DNA while leaving room for each creator's individual voice to lead.
