My Best Me is a picture book series for DK Publishing. They are empowering books that help young children celebrate what makes them unique while building kindness, confidence, and self-love. I designed and illustrated both books in the series: Body Brave, which explores body positivity and self-acceptance, and Color Kind, which celebrates the beautiful range of skin tones and why seeing color matters. Each book required its own visual world in a shared series framework.
Both books share a series identity, the My Best Me badge, a consistent typographic voice, and an illustration style built on bold, simplified shapes. Within that framework, each book has its own palette, its own texture, and its own illustration logic. Body Brave uses geometric paper-cut characters in primary colors; Color Kind works entirely in skin tone ranges with a more minimal, graphic sensibility. Same system, different emotional register.
Both titles in the My Best Me series published with DK and are in print. Body Brave and Color Kind represent something rare: books where the design and the illustration came from the same hand, all the way through. Every shape, every color choice, every spread was designed to make the message land as clearly and warmly as possible for young readers.
