A Kids Co. is an independent publisher behind the A Kids Book About series: books that tackle big, important topics for young readers with clarity, honesty, and exceptional design. As Head of Design and Senior Designer, I led the design team, maintained brand standards across a growing catalog, and designed individual titles from concept through production. Over four years, the work ranged from cover design and typographic systems to the creation of an entirely new formats.
Every A Kids Book About title lives within a shared design system. A consistent typographic framework where the subject word becomes the expressive element, interpreted differently for each topic. The challenge was maintaining brand coherence across a catalog of 50+ books while giving each cover its own distinct visual voice. No two covers look the same; every cover is unmistakably part of the same series.
I conceived and designed a new board book format for A Kids Book About called A Little Book About for toddlers and younger readers. The format required rethinking the brand system from the ground up for a different physical size, paper stock, and age group, while keeping it recognizably part of the same family. I also wrote and illustrated the first title in the series, A Little Book About Bravery, taking the project from concept through final production.
Over four years at A Kids Co., I helped grow the A Kids Book About series into one of the most visually distinctive children's publishing brands in the market designing dozens of covers, maintaining brand standards across a 50+ title catalog, and leading a team of designers through the full production cycle. The new board book format I created opened the brand to a younger audience, with A Little Book About Bravery as the first title in what became a new series.
